Default Condensation probs

How do i counteract too much condensation when using perlite?

I thought that maybe get a slight misting of the lid when using perlite but i am getting big droplets! Would i add more dry perlite, more moist perlite or would i reduce the amount of perlite in the tub?

Not sure how to reduce the amount of condensation, does there need to be more air in between the lid and perlite surface or less air?

Cheers guys

Probably doesnt make much sense that but i read something that made me think.

Using the 1 x 0.8 ration, if you had 100g perlite and put it into a 9L RUB the condensation and humidity would be different if you were to put 100g in an 18L RUB wouldnt it. So although the 1 x 0.8 ratio is supposed to be very accurate it depends what tub you are putting it doesnt it in regards to air space.

all i would suggest (as i've had the same problem with one tub o vermiculite) is to take the lid off and let it air out on the side for a short while, for some of the moisture to escape, as you've got condensaton because the medium is too moist.

This is my frst year ever when I`ve had a heatmat stuck to the back of my incubator. And I can swear 100% that this is also my first year ever when I`ve not had a single bit of condensation, or water droplets forming on the lid of the egg boxes. I used a heatmat on the floor for years - and had big problems, tried it on the lid - and had very few problems. As said, this year with mat on back wall, I`ve had no problems whatsoever - so it really is worth a shot.
Also you have to make sure that if preparing your perlite by hand (instead of `Albey`s Method: 1 to 0.8 ratio), that you try to squeeze out every last drop of water possible, also fill any boxes that you use around a 1/3 full with the medium. If the perlite is still too damp when every thing`s `done`, then you`re gonna have to leave the lid off a little to allow it to dry out slightly as Kirsten said.
