Default incubation method

my cornsnake has just laid 15 eggs and this is our first attempt at breeding. We have put the eggs in a sandwich box and used spagnum moss under the eggs. The incubator is set at about 84 degrees.

What we need to know is what medium do other people use and how often should i check the moss is moist? The eggs arent covered by moss just beneath and around sides is that ok.

Also the lid has no holes for ventiliation as in some books i have it says not to have air holes do people recommend me putting air holes in or shall i just let some air in lifting lid off every couple of days?

Thanks in advance any help appreciated.

Charlie

I'd check every few days to make sure it's still moist, but if theres no air holes in the tub then it should retain the moisture fine.
I have used moss and vermiculite, both had the same end results but I did find the moss tends to discolour the eggs.

i found that boiling the moss before you use it is a very good idea, otherwise you get all kinds of mould growing on the eggs, i use vermiculite or a 50/50 vermiculite / perlite mix now, it just so much easier and cheaper than moss..
