Default how do albino's come about?

This may be a daft question but are albino's just genetic mishaps and if two albinos breed are there more likely to be albino offspring?

thanks

Your right in the first sense that yes albinos the same as any other mutation is just a genetic mishap.
Its where certain gene pairs mutate randomly to form this mutated gene and change the appearance of the animal. This is why we get new morph royals and leos and any other living thing in the world for that matter.

In all reptiles that i know (although i am probably wrong) albino (which ever strain or type) is recessive. So this is where the genetics probability comes in to it.
Albino x Albino = 100% Albinos

Albino x Normal = 100% Normal looking offspring that a het for Albino (carry one copy of the mutated albino gene).

Albino x Normal het albino = 50% Normal het albino and 50% Albinos.

So yes if you breed 2 albinos your more likely to produce albinos, infact all albinos.

Hope i havent confused you

Not sure if you mean geckos or royals. So above is the gecko one.
In royals the albino is a simple recessive trait which occurs in most species of animals and reptiles and probably started out like most royal morphs by finding a wild specimen albino and breeding it to a normal and then breeding the offspring back together to prove the genes could be carried.
As for breeding two albinos together you would get all albino offspring and is perfectly safe to do. Some morph genes in royal are awkward genes to work with such as the woma royal. If two of these are breed together it becomes a fatal double gene for the offspring meaning you wont find any super womas as they all die. Another in the caramel albino where you have to breed a visual to a het(one carrying the genes but not showing them) to avoid excessive kinks in the body. I am sure as the years go on new morphs will come out as well as issues with certain ones. Best bet research any potential problems with the morphs you are using before decided to breed in order to have healthy hatchlings.

with some snakes some people say it is better not to breed two albino's together such as boa - there was a thread about some time ago - I'll try to find the link
