Default Cooling snakes indoors?

hi

im tryin to work out how im going to be able to cool my snakes which are indoors with me? (against the central heating!)

i dont have access to putting them in an outside building so curious as to how to obtain the desired temo drops and how u do it i.e. wat sort of storage boxes, etc

i am trying to work this out specifically for hogs and moreilla. currently these are housed in my vison rack, they are not requiring cooling this year but tryin to work it out in advance and work some ideas out.

cheers

Turn the heating off in a room if possible.
If you put them in a small box could you not fit them under the stairs or somewhere else that's not heated, like under the sink !
( but beware it can get too cold in some places )
Avoid garages and unheated sheds, as snakes have been know to freeze to death.
Anything under 4oC is getting too low.

Question

dont think i'll fit my jungles and bredli and womas plus the hogs all under the kitchen sink! i live in a top floor flat.

i do however have a loft and was thinking of puttin each snake in the correct size tubs filled with newspaper and place all together in the loft with a duvet cover over the lot to stop dropping too cold! does this sound like madness? or would it actually might just work?

As they are coldblooded I doubt the duvet would have any effect.

I hibernate some of mine in the loft ( and have a heater that kicks in if it gets too cool ).

was thinking a winter tog duvet cover just to reduce the harshness of our winter nites and keep a more stable temp, combined with the loft insulation underneath and the heat rise from all the flats below me.

think i will have a bash at this, but will be in the loft everyday to check on them. i'll stick a temp gauge on there tubs!

well unless i move by 2011 this will have to be the way!

thanks for ya help
