Question Idea for an Incubator?? Thoughts Please

Hei!

Whilst having a bit of a daydream at work, I came up with a (seemingly) elegent incubator setup.

Mini fridge (made cold by a TEC plate, which also works in reverse, so making the inside nice and warm) Attached to a Habistat Temp Thermostat (On/Off not dimming) with the thermo probe on/around the egg levels, or shelves if you want to keep thinking fridge.

I can't see why this should not work as I think it should, But it says I'm an egg so I'd like some opinions.

Would be incubating Corn Snake eggs if that makes a massive difference.

Many thanks

Jaz

allo "egg" im only joking mate.

a lot of people use fridges pf all shapes and sizes, some use little under the counter ones, others use massive display types. I've not used one my self mate, but from what i understand is that they take off/out the gas supply as thats not needed. they then put in a heat source (mats/cable etc) obviously to a stat, and thats basically it mate. im sure someone who has used this method will fill in the gaps, personally i just use a poly box. Humble but effective

A mate of mine did one in the same way by reversing the way the fridge worked to create heat but he found it had a masive fluctuation in heat, it would actualy go up 8 celcius out at some point. It is worth a try though but just make sure it is right before you are expecting any eggs. Good luck and I hope it works out.

I have seen people converting fridges/freezers... just set up ya boxes well in advance, get the humidity and temps constant and correct, and you should have no problems

You mean the fridges that also work as heaters? With a dimmer stat, wattage considered, it should be fine with minimal fluctuations, I mean how can it rise 8 degrees with a stat?
