Default Female Incubation (Royals)

Hi All,

I am in no way ready to breed my royals yet - They are not old/heavy/big enough and I do not know enough about the subject to even attempt it were they ready.

So i'm learning beforehand. Any comments i might make will be regarding purely hypothetical situations. (I've seen people having new ones ripped for trying things beyond their experience/ability hence the above nb)

So i have read somewhere that it is possible and even best to allow the female to incubate the eggs herself - Whilst obviously keeping a close eye on the temps etc.

Has this worked for anyone on here?

Was it successful?

Is it recommended?

no... do it yourself
as long as you can maintain the correct temp (without spikes) and humidity, you should be ok

as above

(well actually im not experienced enough to give advive TOWARDS it, but ive read up and incubated myself , only 1 year so far but done VERY well)

the best BRIEF advice i can give is (in my limited xp):

we try our best but can only replicate the right conditions so much
inbation conditions are different from what we keep the snakes in
chances are you will lose the eggs and the mum will go a further 2 months without food (on top of her forced non-eating)
might as well do it yourself and get babies, and get mum eating again within a week

thats how i understand it

hatchling numbers are usually lower and the female wont feed during this process so she could lose some weight IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED

Ok then thanks guys. Just goes to show that it is always better to ask.

As I say - I still have loads of time to learn before my royals reach mating age but I can't wait.

Does anyone know of a good guide to breeding - I've read the most popular one from those CA guys but no mention is made of temps etc.

Just wondering if there was another in depth one around.

Thats the one i've already seen mate. Don't get me wrong i've printed it off and it's in my 'Things to learn before breeding' file, but they don't seem to delve into optimum temps and such like.
