Default Choosing Leo's sex.

Does anyone know at what point in the incubating process the sex of the lizard is formed. Also what would happen if the temperature was changed during incubation?

It was my understanding the first 30 days of incubation can help skew the sexes one way or the other - after this it is locked in.

personally I prefer to have seperate incubators for male/female temps then change the temperatures part way through ~ if not done carefully then health issues or even fatalities can arise for the embryo's

I won't tamper with the temperatures as I don't want to risk damaging the eggs. I was just curious as to what would happen if i changed my mind on the sex i want to incubate for. Why do you change temps part way through? Can I not keep the temps constant until they hatch?

some change the temps partway through to accelerate the incubation time .... as I said earlier I prefer to have seperate incubators ~ one for male temps and one for female temps and incubate the eggs at a steady temperature throughout the incubation without chopping and changing

I am 6 days in to incubating my eggs and I am incubating for males at 87.1 when and what temp would you change to accelerate the incubation time?

I personally wouldn't because of the dangers to the embryo's ~ why the rush to accelerate the incubation?

There is no rush. If there is to much risk then I am not interested in doing it. You mentioned it is possible to do, I'm just interested in how. These are my first eggs so I'm doing everything by the book.

its more about speeding up females by going from 80-82 to 88+ after the first 21 days.

as sleepy says it shouldnt be taken lightly

it can also brighten the colours if you raise it half way through.
you`d probly have to increase it gradually, and theres the chance you might dmamage the babies.

incubating for boys is faster anyway, as slurm says it was more for speeding up girls?
but havnt you got the chance of hot females then?
