Hey Gang,

What is it with more and more scammers popping up all over the place, i really feel quite nervous about selling anything on here now incase i get done.

What security measures can sellers/ buyers do to at least try and limit scammers ability to scam.

I think Scammers are scum of the earth and anyone that does it really need to be dragged to the small claims court.

One thing that we need to ensure is that if u know of a scammer ... tell a mod, if u see some other poor sod goin to buy things, then tell them. Scammers i think could possibly ruin the classified section... i was shocked when i read about Grayson, but now theres more.. theres Cypher and Morelia Inc... I have had spoke with all of these scammers ( thankfully never bought anything) but i thot they seemed really genuine

1 simple rule i live by now mate dont hand item uve sold until moneys in your hand/bank dont pay for nothing until uve got item in ur hands unless u can 100% trust who ur dealing with

the only real way to do it is to not send or recieve things by post/ret taxi and go pick it up your self.

i dont know what scams the two mentioned where up to or who they are but you can go through there post count and read up on some of there posts and try to profile there personality and see if they seem genuine .

this is also a good reason for having the itrader feedback system .


if its a normal nigerian scam where you get a dodgy cheque or there selling something super rare for a great price most of these can be seen early enough for you not to send any money or get involved . .

even that can sometimes be no good . if its a proper scam stolen cheques are usually used and can be taken from your account weeks later ...

also on occasion paypal can do the same if a dispute is opened . not good if your on the receiving end of it

as soon as someone finds one you want to post his email address, we can all send him then 100's of emails, asking 1000's of questions, and then shooting him down, it is great fun making these people squirm..

I'm on the receiving end of being scammed. These people are complete scum and compulsive liars.

i was scammed as well, not very badly and i only lost about 20 quid but still *fumes*

they really are pathetic scum >=(

people should take people to the small claims, i think that's the problem... people will let themselves be scammed!! If i was selling...

*I'd try to deliver (atleast i'd then be made aware of an address assosiated with the person,
*Although I uphold trust in rfukers instinctively, I'd still try and buy/sell with regular members (selling to someone with 0 posts made, and an account just created would make me wary)
*If they are a regular member, and they do scam...atleast other people can provide info on that person. So they could be contacted for legal reasons (for one i now know what grayson looks like thanks to another member so i can stay clear of the guy)... but this extends to name/where they are based etc. which brings me onto my final point

I WOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE SOMEONE TO COURT
If they scammed me.

Currently in the process of taking Jimmy to small claims court for my remaining £130 and Will be taking Cypher_25 too for my £295, he has been warned and is on his last chance to refund my money. If the Paypal refund fails again, I'll be reporting his ass.
