Stud ads

I thought I would post this here rather than clog up any threads in the classifieds section

Ads offering dogs for stud in the domestic & exotics classifieds always seem to end up turning into debates , and with the amount of unwanted dogs about already, especially of certain breeds, it's not surprising.

But there's another issue which I've not seen mentioned which is that I, like most presumably, visit the classifieds at least daily because there are one or two animals I'm looking to buy at the moment. And every time I do log in the same stud ad is there bumped to the top.

Please note I'm not complaining about the poster of that ad, they're complying with the rules on bumping. But if more people post stud ads and do the same we'll end up with a first page full of them and the section will become clogged up with ads for what are not actually animals FOR SALE.

I don't see stud ads as being a 'for sale or wanted' ad in the same way as others in the classifieds as they don't finish when one sale is made ... they could run for years!

Is it possible for the mods to look at whether they should be in another miscellaneous section, or are really suitable for a 'for sale' classifieds at all?

Just my opinion, and I repeat, not a dig at any particular posters, just a general point.

yer im sick of seeing the same stud add in classified, i suppose he is selling his dogs spunk tho lol but im so sick of seeing it for sale.

think he sould get the msg after over 100 bumps no one is interested

I see what your saying people, i really do. But i also dont believe people should stop breeding as not everyone is able or willing to take on a rescue. However i do see your point and its partly my reason for wanting stricter laws on the sale, purchase, keeping and breeding of dogs.....but thats a whole different story.

And as for the bit about its not for sale.....he's selling a service.

if everyone stoped studing and breeding and took recues then in the end we would end up with nothing lol as rescues get their bits done?

im going 2 have my dogs bits cut off (ouch)
but a few plp say that im evil coz es a virgin
he is 3yrs old in march 2009 mrs dirtydozen says they r selling spunk
so iv theres anyone out there that thinks i,m evil and wont some free spunk (4 there dog ) and wonts 2 breed my baby boy with there baby girl

so shall we just carry on as we are ? do you think its ok to keep breeding certain breeds even tho hundreds if not thousands of said breeds are in rescues all over the country ? people breeding said breeds can only be intrested in money, not the dogs

a reptile is a whole diff kettle of fish mate,
the point people are making is people should stop breeding the types of dogs that are filling the recue centres ad unfortunatly for you this is the type of dog you have.
You keep going on about reptiles, i will use iggys for example. Iggys are prob one of the most rescued reptile, there are loads needing homes. Any decent reptile loving person wouldnt dream of breeding iggys IMO for this reason and is one of the reasons why you dont see any CB one CF ones.
I myself breed corns and beardeds, next year i will not be producing as many beardeds, i think im gonna use one female. This is because there was too manythis year so next is gonna be unbelivable coz everyone is gonna be jumping on the bandwagon. Now i know i will be able to sell them, i havent had any trouble this year and i doubt i will next, i dont want to breed them for the simple fact that soon these will be the next iggys IMO, yes they wont be rescued due to their size etc but there will be a rise in number of BDs in rescue

I do stud both my Male Northern Inuit Dogs. I will only allow them to be mated to NIS registered bitches who are non related and have complied with all said NIS rules.
I have turned a lot of people away from using my dogs from their bitch being related to the fact that it's a bloody cross and they have the nerve to even ask me in the first place (one of the societys is rules is no stud dog owner shall stud to unreg or cross breds).

Yes my dogs comand a high stud fee, but I am not interested in the money aspect or I'd have studded to all and sundry. I am very very picky. I was the one who kicked off about people in my breed who are having litters and no nothing about the breed they have so how the hell can they have pups and sell them when they can't give out the right information to new owners! Drives me nuts it does!!! I have a clause saying I will no matter what or at what age! That they will always be welcome back here.
Dweezil and Keano both came back, both are neutered, kept as spoilt pets, I can't amke any money off them as studs but they are regardless of bits missing MY BABIES! and always will be.
I have even rehomed dogs that have been result of my stud a few years down the line when the breeder has lied and won't take them back. I go out of the way for my breed.
