Hiya
I believe your refering to a nematode such as foleyella furcata do get under the skin yes, they also will be found throught the body of the cham aswell. BUT he stated that that it was parasites, not what sort and at no point did he mention the cham didnt look ok apart from when it was ill. you would clearly notice nematodes on its body. Quote:
but at the same time he said it was extremely hydrated, even though if it had parasites that could be seen so clearly then generally it would be a fresh import, but fresh imports almost always come extremely dehydrated Quote:
Generally a autopsy(PM) will be offered to see how far they have infested into the animal. BUT he said the vet said the damage was done over 5 weeks ago...this would mean the cham would be in a real state and look a right mess weeks before hand. Also the buyer said his grip had gotten stronger...if you read up on parasites and such you will see they weaken the animal over time. I highly doubt it was this. Even then the vet would have looked at the worm under the mircoscope to confirm this. coccidia is common in some species of chams aswell and this was not tested for either, which if the buyer keeps other speices then i would have thought a PM would have been paramount to ensure the saftey of the rest of his collection. I didnt no about the toad until now, yes there is a chance of something be caught but without any tests been done i dont see how he can claim the seller is to blame and i dont see how he can state its reason for death without tests being done or a vets report |
