Just a point,

when the guilty are IP banned, please remember that most routers and modems now adays have proxys and so their IP will be automatically generated and it will be changed daily. so just make sure you ban the accounts and look out for anybody who seems like John.

Good work Ssithto and Oni, at least the snakes are recieving decent treatment now, i know you guys will look after them.

This has started out as Craig Ford Python man (Jonnyboy) selling snakes underweight to a full scale investigation by the forum detectives into him and everything he does on this site, car sites etc etc.

As far as i remember on the original thread, when he was Craig Ford Python Man, he offered a refund or partial refund but people decided to dig about. Yeah great, you've uncovered a scammer but i don't see what the courier side of him has to do with the underweight snakes. Two different issues so deal with them seperately.

it's related because it is part of their experience with this one person.

totally relevant to the thread and valuable for people to know.

A courier can be used as an independant witness in legal proceedings, but because they are the same person this cannot now be done. It's deception, they could see at the time the OP was concerned by the weight of the snakes he had just delivered and continued to decieve them.

I see from Sparkle's post though that you are probably just bored so i'll leave it here.

Aye it should be easy to establish if they have been posting from a dynamic IP, and if they where not a swift IP ban could do the job nicely!

Just a point, I hope they are not conducting further sales via the use of PM's to people who may / maynot have read these threads but have contacted them already.

It would be sad for them to make more money off site members

I'm not suggesting that Mods/RFUK are in 'cahoots' but I have pm'd mods twice now without reply about a tortoise for sale post that is advertising them as hermanni hermanni when they are quite clearly not. Infact my post on the thread stating they are not was removed.

Perhaps while not in cahoots more could be done to stop people getting misdescribed animals/goods?

What exactly would you like us to do? At the end of the day all sales are done privately. The mods aren't there (and never could be) to inspect/weigh/sex every animal (or any) so have NO way of knowing unless sales are reported with evidence. The iTrader system is there for people to leave feedback but a lot of people don't use it it seems.

So where are these discussions you're referring to? I didn't write them. I know that what I posted was a general report on a specific scammer and his numerous operations through RFUK so that other RFUK users would be properly informed and could avoid dealing with him if they decided his behaviour was unacceptable. Whether he's using the name Jonnyboy, Craig Ford, or Dee-dop-dee-diddly-dog-bop is of no relevance because it is all the same person. The only difference between 'Craig Ford' the rogue reptile trader and 'Noah's Ark Couriers', is a white van.

We never really investigated much of anything. What actually happened was that after we posted publicly, lots of people started contacting us to tell us about their experiences with him and how they'd been scammed or messed around in the hope that it might help stop him scamming others. We just put together the pieces and checked the facts as far as possible.

*Sigh* Please stop embarrassing yourself and actually read my original post. I've already covered all of that and don't feel like repeating myself in full. All refunds were on the condition of "when he had some money" and we had to either drop our PayPal dispute or let him have the snakes back first with only his word (which is worthless) that we'd ever see a penny back. He also refused to make any direct contact with us to discuss the issue or make arrangements.

In the end we got a whopping £48 back and then decided to drop the remaining PayPal dispute as there was no purpose in hounding Callum for money he didn't have and John refused to give him.

You have completely missed the point of this thread. It isn't about one particular scam, sale, or new shiny name to operate under. It's about a specific individual and his actions and credibility, regardless of what he might be doing at any given moment or under any given alias.

just read the whole thing and I feel so bad for those poor beardies! It's obvious he thinks of all animals as just a way to make money, I doubt he ever feeds any snakes or lizards he has, or gives them any kind of water for that matter(a beardie with severe dehydration!?! I mean how long must the lack of water been going on for for that to happen, maybe no salad of any kind, probably no livefood either, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if the UV and heat bulb had never been replaced when they broke)

I would expect you to remove the advert. The misdescription is being made when the animal (tortoise in my case above) is offered for sale. Especially when another Mod Jane (along with several other members) has agreed in a PM that they are NOT hermanni hermanni. Not leave it there so that people who may not know exactly how to identify species bought a misdescribed tortoise.
If you really have to leave the ad on then why delete a post warning people that they are actually hermanni boettgeri? There is a financial incentive in describing these as T.h.hermanni.

Firstly we don't have a mod called Jane. I don't have a clue about torts myself either so would be reluctant to get involved there. Feel free to report the ad and the other (more knowledgeable in tort side mods) will look at it.
