i doubt the police could do anything as so far he's not done anything wrong. He's pretended to be somebody else to sell a snake that he does appear to own but the BlueRoses found out who he was and pulled out of the sale.
As the sale was all set to go through he spent the money and now has to find the money to repay her.

If anything, i think all they'd do is go to see him and he'll tell them that he fully intends to refund her money or she can still have the snake.

I'm pretty sure they will investigate - they take internet based crime seriously at the moment and this could be investigated as deception.

Sorry to hear your story BlueRoses, the fact that the guy knew of your circumstances makes it even worse than a scam. As you paid through Paypal, if the sale/refund isn't covered by the way you paid, it might be a good idea to contact your bank as you may be covered through them...you may need to get a crime reference number from the police, and I'm sure the Newcastle police would be interested in his 'deals' too as you are not the first and no doubt the last. I wish you luck and hope you manage to get your money back, one way or another.

Due to the kindness of R.E.C.S., who along with his girlfriend went to the address of 'jonnyboy' and retrieved my snake. He had been totally ignoring all my emails, but handed over the snake when told these members were acting on my behalf. It would appear he felt apprehensive when someone actually turned up at his door ( although in no way agressively ) To deal with someone 150 miles or so away , over the internet, is a different matter to having someone actually arrive at your door. He could ignore me , but not them. Anyway he handed over the snake, there was no attitude Im told, and the whole process took just minutes. He let the lady check the box contents too.
Im told the snake was stone cold, 'balled' up, and looking very hungry. I think it is about to eat R.E.C.S . He describes it as being power fed in the past at some time, but no scars or signs of ill health apart from him seeing a mite.
I would like to publically thank RECS and others ( you know who you are ) for doing this for me. RECS is going to drop the snake off for me round about 21st June. He is also getting it probed. I bought it as a female but he thinks it could be male.
At least I have a snake, instead of nothing at all. I am very grateful.
