Luce

I wasnt being arsey so you must have mis-read for a start... and that is normally most peoples problems, they will read what is written in completly the wrong tone, all people who know me know that im not argumentative because i have no need to be, and I am certainly not being defensive as I dont need to defend myself on anything on this thread... lou replied to me saying that emma hadnt done this and she handnt dont that, and i replied with saying dont dig into me about what she has and hasnt done as its nothing to do with me... i was simply passing a message on... so yes sparkle, you read it in the wrong tone and didnt actually read it properly at all

anyway thats that and its completly irrelevant, I think it should actually go back to the topic of what pouchie originally intended

I have been following all of this from the start and I do not normally enter into these sort of disputes, but I am confused.

If somebody wants to buy an animal in instalments because they can not pay in one go, then surely the sensible thing would be to hold onto the animal till all the payments have been made.
You could even come to some extra agreement for housing/feeding bills for the animal for that agreed payment time.
Or better still save up till you can afford to buy the animal out right, I'm sure there would be a chance of finding one when the finances were in place.

Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

This happens because you get to know regular forum members on here and you think you can trust them. I had a well known forum member agree to buy animals off me in installments after knowing them on and off the forum for a year. Thought i could trust them and never got the money for the animals. Definitley wont be so trusting of people next time.

I just hope Pouchie can get this sorted.

last year i saved up £700 to buy two pancake tortoises. took me months but i was thrilled to bits with them. The seller told me they were insured for a month, fully wormed and vet checked and gave me their cites papers. on the day before xmas eve i found one of them dead in the viv. i was gutted, but the sensible part of me knew i needed to get a necropsy done ( animals dont get PMd). so my hubby took the body to the vet and even though it was xmas i still had the initial results on xmas eve.....within 24 hours.

anyway, The vet told me that the tortoise had perforations in the bowels caused by nematodes ( worms). his liver was also inflamed and the fat lining his body cavity had decomposed VERY quickly suggesting other parasites. did i want to do full histology? you betcha. but histology cant really ( reliably) be done after freezing so he had to drop them all off at the lab ASAP. and even with xmas shut down, i still had the results by 3rd january. the tortoise had crypto. the holes i his bowel had allowed the dormant crypto to enter his blood stream. thats what killed him.

so i took that info and necropsy result to the seller. he promised me that my animal had been wormed and vet checked so where did the nematodes and crypto come from? he replaced the animal free of charge and gave me a further 50% of the other one i bought. but only because i have ,my animals fecal checked every 6 months and i could prove 100% that the crypto didnt come from my collection.

Pouchie, i really hope you get this sorted out. may be worth you going to small claims court. i believe it only costs £30 to file and then you may get the truth if nothing else. maybe call around the vets local to where she lives and ask if they have ever done a skunk necropsy? and like some of the others said, if the baby diedof an injury, she does still owe the money.....if it was genetic then thats different.

To the people asking why I let Emma have the skunk and pay later - that is why I posted this thread. As a warning NOT to.

Don't forget - I had none of this information, or not enough of it to prevent me letting her have the skunk.

It has come to light SINCE (albeit still in private) because all the people who have been stung by Emma have kept it quiet for fear of the backlash if they speak up and possibly worried it will screw up their last hope of ever seeing their money.

Worst of all, I have tried to privately warn the next person who is about to sell her a skunk and it looks like he will go ahead anyway after all I have said. For this reason I want to be sure I did everything to warn him and have that skunk go to a different home.

i think this is now strayin off the issue. if the guy gets the money up front first, why shouldnt he sell it to emma? i can fully understand the issue of you havin a problem with her lack of communication and not being forthcoming with info and money, but you cannot make comments about her care as you just DONT KNOW how she cares for her animals. So by all means advise someone not to give her a skunk before payment is made, but you cant advise someone not to sell her a skunk because she doesnt look after them, cos thats something you dont know whether its true or not. yes we dont know whether the skunk died from something genetic, but we dont know that it didnt either, so i think people need to stop making assumptions
