Nothing like a bit of compensation hehe
Although I do think if you have forked out for court proceedings he should give you that as it should never have come to that. I know with Durham county court you pay £35 to start a case and what not.

recently, theres been lots of 'eggs' on classifieds trying to sell items of £100+. what a joke! but then, some people will just send the money through paypal not thinking that i could be a scam!

decent sellers/buyers on here should be given some kind of symbol next to their name so we can tell who are not the scammers.
Not every egg in a basket is going to be a BAD one!

That's really sucky what happend to you

But tbh, I'd never hand the animal etc over until I have the money properly, whether that means waiting for the cheque to clear or making them get cash or what ever.

Really hope you can get you snakes back

Keep proof of all the bouncing cheques when you take him to court
Its classed as a civil matter and I dont see why the courts wouldnt favour you

I once took a cheque with a cheque guarantee card.....

Yes it bounced like a football I asked the bank why it had bounced it has a guarantee card...This Twat had closed his account a few months earlier but still had the cheque book and card so he was using them....
I got the Police involved as it is deliberate fraud I got the reptiles back with in a few days but got told I was not allowed to sell them until he had been to court the reason for this is If he got found not guilty of fraud he is entitled to have the reptiles back I sold them with in a few days CASH to someone else and i never heard anything from the police( But it was not only my cheque thay was a few he had been doing but I was the one who got his address off his driving license and wrote it on the back of the cheque )

now i love that bit..
Don't sell the reptiles because if he's found not guilty he's entitled to have the reptiles back that he hasn't paid for..

people
Have you tried citizens advice and they can tell you the best route to take and give you advice regarding small claims.
Im surprised the police dont want to know, my sisters old employer wrote her a cheque for £200 and it bounched and she couldnt get hold of him etc so she contacted the police and they found out where he was and told him he ether paid her or they would take the matter further, she had the CASH a week later.
They wonder why the police have such a bad name
