what car boots are you goin to? lol also at car boots it hasnt been done to lower postage has it.... plus at a car boot you'll probably pay about 50p, which is probably less than what was paid for the heat mats

Thats because in these circumstances you would be classed as a trader and therefore electrical items need to be PAT tested i believe, they get around this by cutting the plug off....i could be totally wrong tho ...just something i remember being told.

It's different if it's a private sale tho, plug can be left on..so im led to believe.

There was no need for the seller to cut the plug off.

a lot of bad noise on this thread
as far as i see it, if this would have happened to me on ebay (i used to trade about £3000 a month), id just accept it!
YOU couldnt see the pics, if you had issues why didnt you contact on the first day?
plugs being cut off is a perfectly viable thing to do as it means you are not liable if anything happens, if the heatmat burned your house down after being sold, private sale or not, the seller could have been liable
and you are not protected by the distance sellers act in this case either so unfortunately, tough.
Buyer beware as the saying goes, any issues, contact immediately not nearly 2 weeks later
and i doubt she is trying to make a swift buck, by selling dodgy heatmats tucked in with another 2 although that could be the case, nobody can tell for sure
same way as nobody can REALLY tell if it worked fine and you broke it after 12 days....

I totally agree with foofoolafluff, Im hopeless with electrics and have to get the gf to put plugs etc on appliances as Id blow every fuse in the house if I attempted!

I personally would not send a heatmat without a plug to lower postage, if it was that much of a problem, why not add £1 to the postage cost to cover it!

Also I think gothgirl should refund the price of 1 heatmat as the seller has bought an item which is faulty and is of no use to any1!

don't forget, it was sent in a big parcel so its not a case of increase in costs from an envelope to a parcel.. like you say, it'll be pennies
