Het papers...lesson learnt!

Well ok, i admit i was stupid, but still feel a bit hard done by to be honest.

I bought a pair of supposedly het albino boas from a forum member after they placed an advert on here, they were advertised as 100% het with paperwork. I drove for over 2 hours with 2 small children in tow to collect them, only for the seller to tell me he`d lost the papers but would post them to me asap, and if he couldn`t find them he would go back to the shop and get a replacement copy. I was a bit dubious, and should have walked away there and then, but as i`d travelled and the kids were knackered i didn`t want the trip to be for nothing, so i trusted him and bought them.

Well over 2 months on and several pms, all of which he has ignored apart from one, i`ve still not had them, and to be honest i don`t think i`m going to get them, therefore i believe now that my "het albinos" are just normals.

I`m gutted and annoyed, so i wanted to post this to warn others about posting "lost" papers. I should have used common sense but i`m far too trusting, and whilst i believe most on here to be trustworthy there will always be one or two who spoil it for everybody.

yes I think irrespective of what a person says a copy sent to my email before beginning the journey is the ONLY way I would have travelled with kids in the car that far..

A hard lesson .. but one you wont repeat at least

just because someone shares an interest in reps does not make them trustworthy

Do papers prove anything anyway? surely anybody can knock up a certificate of proof on a PC.

Its very unfair that people take advantage of other members in that way, have you reported them to the moderators, they might be able to help and surely you have their address so maybe you could seek legal advice or what shop did they say they originally came from? maybe you could contact the shop and ask them some questions...

Totally agree, it`s not so much the fact that they haven`t got papers that makes me doubt them, more that if he`s lying about them ever having papers then his word can`t be trused on anything..if you get me?

i dont understand why papers are so important when i comes to royals and boas, yet if smeone sells a corn that has hets, then it is believed..
i will be breeding royals eventually that will be have hets and poss hets, people will be able to see all parents, but i probably wont be providing paperwork..

If he`d said originally that they had no papers i probably would have been happy to take his word, but why lie and say they have papers to clinch a sale if they don`t? It`s more about the fact that he`s lied and then ignores me completely meaning i can`t trust his word now than the actual papers themselves.
Now if you (Nige) were to tell me something was het then i`d be happy to take your word because you are an honest seller and have a good rep.
