People are failing to notice (not you) lets say a letter gets posted from london to you, the letter then gets sent to a sorting office in birmingham where the stike is affecting. It has nothing to do with your area or there area not being affected, its the middle bit that can be affected.

The person who has sent you the postal order should have a reciept and (i think) should be able to cancel it

ah thanks for that. so there you go, waitingowl can save me a stamp and cancel the postal order.

The postal order has been paid for he/she will not a get a refund, you will need to cash it and send a new one back in their name.

Yes you can as long as you have the receipt
All you do id go to the post office with your receipt and say its got lost in the post, they then give you a form to fill in. Must not be 15 days before they sent the postal order.

Then they can see if they postal order has been cashed or not

This is why people use postal orders as its safer than sending cash as in most cases you can get your money back as long as you keep the receipt

If PO is crossed they have to be paid in at banks and clear same as cheque, you are not able to cash crossed po at post office.
