i can see where th op is coming from i personally like to deal in person
although will buy thru paypal if i a know the person or b they have a validated website and we speak on the phone
i payed almost 2 grand for 2 royals from a reputable dealer in 07 and have now nice royals still healthy.
on the other hand on some sites ive advertised animals and had many a reply from nigerian idiots(we all know the script i'll send you more than you need and you repay me back so much and keep 500 dollars for yourself etc etc),
so a few people have replied to adverts and the norm seems to be(as ive sold a good few snakes in the past),swap contact details (within 2 or 3 emails)and they either collect or phone me to make arrangements.
i recently had some one asking for my bank details within a emaill or two ,and not my contact details.i presumed this was a scammer and asked on the forum here.
to which i then got FLAMED off several people including the said associate who was supposed to be picking them up.
as one well respected person on here said if not sure walk away.
which is true,they came accross as scammers all i did was ask and they then threw the teddy out their pram as it was.
UNFORTUNATELY because of true scammers out there(many from nigeria,and getting clevererer by the minute(setting websites up etc etc))then it has become a lot less trusting out there,let's face it your inviting someone into your home to view animals,who you in most cases don't know.
the emails in question,my good other half works for the law and as soon as she saw them said scam don't bother.
i appologise if this upsets some people but times have become less trusting
so be careful and hopefully the herping world can overcome these problems and get through them together.

And thanks for all the guys on here who wrote about me and that has showed everybody that we still have comarardary.

But, I have to agree with how things are on here now, it is so worrying selling or buying, as there are people being let down on here on an almost daily basis.

I have had my share of changing my plans and waiting in for non-existent buyers in the last month, but I do treat all the potential buyers as genuine and believe they will uphold their side of the bargain and at least turn up.

Mike I have to say your one of the most genuine people around. Anyone who knows you would be able to vouch for your honesty and good intentions.

I completely understand with the way royal mail is at the moment why people are prefering to pay in cash or by bank transfer. Scammers are around but you can normally tell who is genuine and who is not.

dealt with Mike for the first time last night - seems to me an honest and trustworthy guy to me - would def deal with again. If I am not sure I read their past threads and their feedback - usually get a good idea from that.
