Default Scamming

Recentley I have advertised a few animals for sale and I seem to attract scammers.

One fella I'm pretty sure I have spoken to him in the past, wanted me to post my animals and he would then send me a cheque? Ye right!

Another wanted my account details! I wasn't born yesterday!

The way I look at it is if you genuinely want the animal you should be prepared to pick it up yourself, I would want to see the animal before I bought it, wouldn't we all???

Another one is 'please hold the animal I definately want it!' Ok I said, but if you change your mind please let me know it's not a problem.

Why do people time waste?

I've bought things before sight unseen, my male boa I chose from pics and had him couriered. A couple of my royals were bought from pics too and delivered. Both times though the sellers were well established with extremely good reputations. Sounds like you are not having the best of luck lately though.

Totally agree with you in the sense there are a lot of good people with nice, healthy animals.

But I just seem to attract the wrong custom I think? Im wary of sending money to somebody I don't know.

Account number and sort code are used for electronic balance transfers and can't be used to take money out.

Actually they can be used to set up direct debits, as proved when someone repeatedly set one up to send money to a charity when jeremy clarkson published his details in a newspaper column

I will hold my hands up here Folks,

I was the one that requested his bank details as I wanted his San Francisco Garters for my flat mates birthday present, and unfortunately I do not use paypal, and as we have wild cat strikes down here with the post he would not get his money in time. I saw no other way at least he would have the cash and then I would be left with the worry if he would uphold his side and yes I would have trusted you Karl as you seemed ok when we spoke about them.

London to Fleetwood is 387 Km so 774 Km round trip which will have added a further £100 to the cost of these and the added joy of spending the day in the car.

I even arranged a courier for them, Just ask Sam the Van Man.

These were also due to be collected tomorrow (Monday 19th)

Karl you even have my e mail, mobile etc so I was a tad annoyed to read that you think I'm a scammer.

So I will now publicly apologise for asking for the bank details to buy these.

Doesn't seem like an unrealistic request. I had several of my customers have my bank detailst to transfer money when I was couriering.

I also have met renfield and I think anyone that has met him can tell he is not dishonest yet alone a scammer.

He's one of the few people I would now trust through an internet forum.

I have also been on the reciving end of a scammer, I paid by paypal and i never saw a penny of my money again even though I won the dispute.

Result £250 down the drain and I closed my paypal account.

I am not a scammer, (thanks S W for your comment) my 30 positive Itrader score (100%) is visible to all and I was going to pay up front without seeing these snakes in person all be it by a Barclays bank transfer online, so please tell me how i can even loosely be called a scammer.

That is true, but from what I have read it's quite easy to have these reversed. Also, I don't think individuals can receive direct debit payments, just companies (although I'm not 100% on that).
