Default The only problem with advertising, is you have to put up with the idiots!!

Just had an idiot on the phone wanting to buy a snake. Firstly the guy already has 2 corns and wants another to live with them. He doesn't know the sexes and wants a young female from me. I refused and told him i wouldn't sell a female to be co-habited with 2 unknown sex snakes let alone a youngster who won'be ready to breed for a good couple of years yet, and that i wasn't a fan of co-habiting anyway and he got really arsy! Started having a go and telling me i knew nothing about snakes and then asked me questions about breeding...like "what's an incubator?"
After telling me again that he knew best he then tried to buy a male off me, and again on principle i refused politely and hung up.
5 minutes later i get a phonecall back saying he'd phoned the pet shop and both of his were female therefore he would have a female after all.

Erm nope, you won't.

!!
I had some guy turn up once (and to be honest I think he's joined this forum now so this could be interesting ha!) after he'd phone and was interested in a carpet python... Well at first he seemed fine, seemed to know what he was doing and then the 'stories' started to comeout... How he likes to take his adult carpet python to tesco with him to do the shopping... in his pockets.. (Ok slightly concerning but most likely joking adult carpets dont fit in pockets).. and then how he'd always wanted a burm... because his mate had one and it tried to eat his rottweiler and was so funny... (ok getting worried now, please tell me your trying to be 'big')... and not forgetting how his corn snake is as soft as it comes because his young nephew swings it around while it's eating ........ oh and that night that he had a power cut and got up and loads of his snakes was dead... was like the x-files hahahaha (have I missed something thats not funny? and I'm extremely concerned)..
I sware he just kept going on and on and on and I was just stunned and honestly thought someone was having a joke it was that bad... Nope he was serious.. he was that much of a intelligent person though, that I told him to go away and phone me in the morning to see if she was still available (he'd turned up to buy her there and then but politely left nodding like churchill), phoned me back in the morning to say "is she still available?" and guess what! someone had come only and bought her just before... fancy that

and if your reading this and it was you.. Your a plonka!

I must be really lucky!

I have had a few people buy things, but not animals and all of them seemed to be polite and really nice to chat to!

Sometimes if I am a little wary, I'll arrange to meet somewhere neutral as I am quite worried about the amount of "theft" stories you read of lately. ANd to be honest, I would rather politely meet somewhere neutral, then make a polite judgement.

Better safe than sorry..

As for the first post though, that's horrible! I would feel so uneasy and worry that if I refused the person would lose the plot and get angry, but I would stick by my decision because my animals mean a lot to me.

I seriously hope I never have to go through what you did... How bloody rude...

DO YOUR READING BEFORE YOU START BREEDING!

GlasgowGecko: IF you breed two animals and the resulting offspring exhibit reduced fitness, you MUST purge the system (this does not mean termination, but they should NEVER be bred). This is the only way to get passed it.

Is it really so hard to do some reading, use some common sense and ask a few questions BEFORE you buy the animal?

the guy who swapped db'for em i told he was fine and kept them foir his own collection

I get idiots message me all the time.

3 members in particular message me on a regular basis as if they've never asked me for quotes before.

Every time, they ask me for a different quote on a completely different stack of vivs.

Every time, I ignore them , lol.

It's like they've forgotten that they've already asked me.

Must have very short memories or must be very bored on the Dole, lol.

I'm just waiting for the next one now - my quote will be £5 regardless of what size stack they ask about - then I'll wait for the message that asks " Can I pay weekly? " , pmsl.

But I suppose the best bit of info I can give to you - spirit975 - yes, you have to put up with idiots, put it's all part and parcel of advertising on here - and it adds to the fun, lol.

Good luck,
Volly

I had a guy come to buy a snake off me, he looked mental, he told me where he keeps his drugs that he sells and that his neighbour was washing his car and nearly soaked them all, that he had large staff/pit crosses who weould clean jump through a glass window to get at people and how he repeatedly threw paint stripper over someone he didnt likes car, he gave me a handy tip, if you mix the paint stripper with cooking oil it sticks better and takes more paint off! it was late at night, i was just hoping he would leave, then he kept texting me jokes for a number of weeks and phoning me for a chat on a saturday when he was in the house on drugs with his friends, very very strange!

We have turned stacks away, but my favourite was the lady who wanted a meerkat from us.

As you can imagine we vet people very thoroughly for this kind of animal and she was doing really well, until we started talking diet and supplements. She was a vegetarian and determined all her pets would be too.

She spent the next half hour telling me the nutritional benefits of tofu, soya and nuts and that the meerkats would love it after they got used to it.

I spent the next half minute telling her she was a buffoon and showing her the door.
