Not when you are a court appointed baliff investigating fraud, there are a lot of "legal" grey areas.

If you look at this chaps posts he signed up to RFUK just to sell (and scam?)

Shame RFUK doesn't require a minimum post count and sign up time length before you're allowed to advertise. Other forums that I belong to do this and there are almost no scam adverts now. They require a minimum of 50 posts and 90 days sign up before allowing adverts. Too long for most scammers to wait.

But it is when you're helping someone out on an internet forum. I've got a copper friend. How would you like it if I got her to look up your details? The blunt answer is you wouldn't. It's a form of corruption.

OK so now I got an pm message from a moderator from this forum to tell me I have definitely been scammed

He said that another admin from another forum has contacted him and said this 'user' takes payment and never sends the item so there goes my money

The funny thing is the amount of lies this guy comes out with via text messages, honestly you would be in stitches. For example last night his 'mate' paid me my refund and now he's telling me he rang his 'own' bank account to find out how long it will take and it will be 5 working days - even though my bank account said no money is coming in for the next 5 days.

The guy has apparently 'posted' me the item and given me a tracking number.

I have traced the tracking number and it is valid, not posted from anywhere near west sussex though.

Probably sent it to himself with the tracking number, or sent an empty box to me

I think that idea is something that should be seriously considered, wouldn't be great for genuine new users but would benefit the forum as a whole.

If you do receive anything try and get someone to witness you opening it, might sound daft but like you said he could have sent you an empty box. Scammers have sent empty boxes when paypal has been used. They can provide a tracking number, the buyer can't prove the box was empty and paypal believe the seller.

Not going to turn this into an argument, scammers need to be stopped, as a baliff and PI i can be employed by anyone to track down anyone, whether i am paid or not, if i decide to volunteer my services that is up to me, there are certain databases at my disposal to be used with the work i take on which ARE LEGAL and if i decide to use these to help rid the net of one more scammer i will !

And in answer to your last question, if i scammed someone i would be silly to think they wont try to find me, by any means

Thanks mate, I will definitely get the person who delivered it be the witness, will also tell my family if im at work and a parcel comes then to open it infront of the guy and if its empty/stuff missing then take his details.

gtm I understand what you're saying but personally regardless of if I got scammed or not I think steve is 100% correct, these people need to be stopped and they must be stupid if they think that no one is even going to make a fuss out of them taking hard earned money from other people.

Good on you steve for going out your way to help other members, there should be more members like you

Its about time the scammers got stopped, it took me 3 years to get my PI degree and i am a nosy bastard so i dont mind tracking people down, the only bad thing is that you cant say too much on public forums because of the slander laws, However within the month we will be launching beatthescammers.co.uk which will list all names of proven scammers including the forums they advertise on

If ya get scammed TELL US!!!
