You're bang on on right vis a vis scammers - they seem to infest these forums (& similar ones) like a plague of locusts & dealing with them via lawful means is clearly a positive. However the old adage that two wrongs don't make a right applies & suborning coppers to break the law is illegal & clearly is not the right way forward.

Good luck with your anti scammer site - for the record I doubt whether any of them have the financial resources (or inclination) to sue you for libel & I'd have thought you would be on pretty safe ground with that.

Just out of curiosity what bank is this guy with? I have a few friends who work at different banks. If he is with one that they work with I can get his address pretty easily. PM me if you like...

(Although the police could do this with his bank details too)

I got scammed by a loser on here it wasnt a great deal of money but the principal he has scammed others as well. So if you could confirm his address that would be great so I can go and say hello and get what is owed. Addresses have been put up but just want a confirmation that he lives there save the wasted journey.

@Essex nick - yeah the guy I paid banks with HSBC, he came on like hald an hour ago and said he will email me my receipt to say he has refunded me, well I aint heard from him since. Funny the only time this guy answered his phone was when he was desperately after the money, since then he never answers the phone and texts me.

@CBR Just read that topic, man that is really sad what happened there. What a coincidence the guy who scammed you lot was from Portsmouth, Weasel posted the item today and when I check it with Royal Mail it gives me a Portsmouth post-code. He told me his other half lives in Portsmouth, but aint that funny how two scammers are from the same area? One minute this guy says he's based in west sussex and the next it's Portsmouth.

To be honest a strange thing is another guy a couple of years ago tried scamming me from Pompey (Southsea) as well however I knew his address so went to collect. Sadly though he scammed a few others who where not so lucky.

Thinking about it the Wii scammer was named Jim Clarke (James Clarke) from Pompey.

when opening the box could you video it? and would that hold up as evidence? Ie show date from a newspaper heading before opening, then close up on tracking code & wrapping to show it hasnt been tampered with.
