Angry Make me an offer - what's so difficult about that?

Why do some people on this forum find it so difficult to wrap their tiny minds around the aspect of bargaining?
I say 'make me an offer', i could be selling a fricking toffee sweet and start the offer at £100, doesn't mean that i wont entertain reasonable offers for said sweet now does it.
Ok so the above example is a bit OTT but when someone believes an asking figure to be too high, they stand a chance to get what they deem a reasonable price by making an offer, and that is how it all works.
I understand that a high starting price may deter some buyers, but still, if they are interested, then there is nothing stopping them from making an offer is there.
Some offers are ridiculous, some are stupid, but most people have the ability to guage a roundabouts figure, and then they make an offer on that figure, and the negotiations begin.

eg;

Starting at £100.
Give you £50.
Make it £85.
Hmm, £60?
£75 and it's yours.
I'll go to £70 but that's all.
Ok deal.

What is so complicated about that?

Then there are the s that chip in just to have their say, just to upset the apple cart and portray you as the bad guy who in their opinion is asking way too much for something, not even remotely interested in what you might be selling, just want to up their comment count, these people really get on my nerves. Why do they feel this need to stick their noses in?
I don't do it, i don't see too many people doing it, and i know that it is part of the classifieds rules not to do it, yet still it goes on, and the moderators don't seem to do an awful lot about it either.
What do we do to stop them from doing it? I don't think we can, i do think that the sensible option is to simply ignore those comments that are there quite obviously just to throw some sh*t and see if it sticks or not, but what's to say potential buyers wont read the comments of these people and be swayed by their content?
Just frustrates me, and i know i don't react so well to those that do it on my threads, i know i am harsh on them, even rude, but at the end of the day, they put their comments there first, and instigated the reaction, i didn't go looking for the trouble.

Rant over Thanks for reading

What are your thoughts forum?

I think it is because they don't want to overpay on something when they could of had it cheaper but also do not want to offend by offering too low.

See it's the guidance figure i give that people get arsey about. Seen this example many times where no one knows where to start, so i try put a guidance figure in to avoid having to jump that hurdle. I get grief from giving a starting figure though I think they want me to start at 1p and see where it goes.

Same as all of us, no one wants to overpay for something, that'd be silly. Still, i've always gone by the rule of it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
Offering too low is one thing, offering as said something equivalent to a bag of skittles (lol) is just being daft. Also like i've said, a guidance price helps, but i'm finding people get very annoyed if they think your guidance price is over the mark.....eesh.

some people just don't like to make offers. If i have something up for sale for £x or offers, if somebody makes me a stupidly low offer i won't even bother replying.
Plus some people may not know the value of something and get put off by the idea of making an offer that could be stupidly low or stupidly high.

It's the hassle of sending pm's back and forth to get a price, far quicker to say I want X amount then if people want to pay it, its done and dusted.

I just hate bargaining. Always have, always will. I want to know how much it costs and if I think it's a fair price, I'll pay it.

I just can't be doing with all the hassle!

Exactly.I've tried giving offers to people and it tends to go back and fourth in PM's...So much more effort - proper negotiations tend to never happen with most sellers who say 'may me an offer'
PUT A DAMN PRICE UP I say
What's with sellers being so lazy they can't put an asking price up?

If you are sensiable and not completly silly with your offers you shouldn't have too many problems.
