Default Auctions would they be legal ?

Often thought it would be fun to offer snakes i want to sell as an auction but wondered whether it would be legal to do so.

Bids would either be posted or pm`d which i would reveal as anonymous .

What do you reckon?

G

So you'd be happy just to sell to the highest bidder even if he or she wasn't very nice to their animals or who had a record for getting animals then passing them on when bored? That's how auctions work after all.The person who bids the most get the animal.

Hmmmm. You asked about auctions. I mentioned the pitfalls of selling by auction. You turn abusive.
Why is it that whenever an immature person gets a reply on their thread that they don't like, they turn abusive and start swearing?

isnt someone allowed to disagree with your idea?

Personally I fundimentally disagree with auctions for animals.

If you look in the classified rules you will also see it is not allowed.

Also please dont swear in open forum, children can and will read it

and the person who pays for the animal in a sale gets it.
If it's an unofficial auction then there's no legally binding contract, so you don't have to give it to them if they're not right/

There's plenty of auctions for animals as there is, mainly lifestock.. such as clitheroe

Wouldn't that be like selling for offers, same as many already do?

But how secure would the auction be.

I think it would be best to stick to the good old for sale at a price tactics.

I personally beleive that auctioning animals off isn't really a bright idea firstly anyone can place a bid and to be honest I think the only reason someone would want to auction their animal off is to get the best price possible a good old sale is the best way to go just more ammo for the anti's to get hold of.

Auctions are legal. Many auctions are held both around the country and on websites. Many livestock are sold via auctions, along with small domestic furries quite frequently sold by auction at the markets or alongside the livestock auctions around the country. It's not as common as with pets but I have seen auctions at bird shows before on parrots, budgies etc but usually aviary birds.

I believe there is at least one specific reptile ebay style site (which I don't think was that popular), but it does go to show that it's certainly "legal".

As you've already seen from this thread, whether everyone agrees that it is moral is a different kettle of fish.

But please, do not swear, if you post a thread on a forums you will get an array of opinions back, some of which may not agree with you - responding to those posts with swearing or aggressive language is never going to help.

I think the main reason behind the "Auction" of reptiles is because the distance between people and the only courier which is freely available for the keepers are the likes of Sam The Van Man I would personally believe that's one of the main factors the site never took off was because you can't just chuck them in the post so to speak. I have been to Bird auctions that Athravan has said about I have seen numerous different species there including Parrots these are held normally in a Pub or large local space they started because of the Bird Keepers mixing up blood lines and selling their off spring they still got their prices if not more in some cases but they also made large losses which is why Reserve prices come into play.

I personally don't believe in auctioning animals off because any Tom, Dick or Harry can buy them even without the knowledge to care for the animal.

But GrayLord that is my Opinion which is freedom of speach you ask a question expect others to either agree or disagree but don't get throwing your dummy out the pram when someone disagrees with you. It would of been a different story if everyone agree'd with your idea wouldn't it.
