Default Recession still biting hard re- snake sales

Noticed some good deals on here recently and despite this sales are still slow .

Also noticed some quiite frankly daft prices being asked but i suppose thats another issue.

Be interested in peoples views .

People don't seem to be able to accept the fact that they'll have to drop their prices to make a sale. Seems particularly bad with the royal morphs. Someone asks hundreds for a morph that without the eye of faith just looks like a nice coloured normal, they have a queue of people saying what a bargain it is etc. but no-one puts their hands in their pockets to buy it.

Yes i`ve noticed this, along with obvious morphs and traits there appears as you say many royals that are simply just....royals but a bit nicer. I suppose it's human nature to want to believe you have something better than you have... well it is for some.

My OH PM'd a guy on preloved who was selling a normal royal as a normal boa for £250, he went oh thanks when she told him it was a royal, and he's now selling the normal royal for £150.

not sure if it's the recession but morph prices seem to be dropping more and more. A lot of people will hold off buying something incase they can get it for half the price in a few weeks. Same with breeding; prices are dropping that much people won't want to pay the prices when they'll only get a fraction of it back when they're at breeding age

Ive seen the snake prices drop slightly, but the T prices have exceeded, as mentioned some people think they have the crown jewels no one else has & put excess price on their sales. Then again you do have some bargains & some plonkers out there offering the seller a stupid amount as regards to the goods.

Snakes are a luxury, and one that has ongoing upkeep - not like buying a DVD or going out for a nice meal, they're an expensive purchase that just keeps asking for more money. So people are almost certainly looking at the things they want and asking themselves what they can justify having. Especially with winter here - even if it wasn't a recession, heating bills go up in winter, and not everyone gets quarterly averaged bills. I know I'm watching my built-up-in-summer credit dwindling away.

At the moment I've told myself no new snakes that I don't either breed for myself OR can be obtained by trading what I've bred. And in some cases, if I can obtain something I want but I've got to trade a little more than I've planned to get it... well, one mouth to feed is cheaper than three.

I think this is a problem with everything for sale at the moment, not just snakes.

But saying that, some people are living on another planet i think, crazy prices for snakes that dont look anything special - nuts!

But i do think the good quality, well priced ones are still selling fairly well. I do think if you underprice things too much you're less likely to sell quickly sometimes as people think theres something wrong with it lol

people keep messing with prices as well:

Monday - for sale, £400
Tuesday - bump, needs to go £375
Thursday - bump £350 for quick sale
Friday - £250 this weekend only
Wednesday -come on, it's well worth the money. I need the space and it has to go, a packet of Worthers Originals, a game of hopscotch and a carton of Umbongo and it's all yours.

Everybody is in too much of a rush to get rid so the sales threads are like watching the Bid.TV channels.. You just sit and watch it till they're practically giving it away.

*chuckle* problem is, too many people get into a position where they HAVE to sell fast. I have, in the past, advertised animals that I'm happy to sit on for four or five months if it's necessary - and I don't buy animals planning that those animals will go into the space that X animal for sale is currently living in!
