unfortunately, he's right. Despite first class post normally getting to you within 1 day, it can take up to 28 days to get there before you can claim any money back from the post office. Plus, if the wrong stamp for the weight is put on then it will automatically be sent as 2nd class (or you will be carded to pay the remaining postage).
Hope it comes soon.

A claim can be lodged with Royal Mail after 15 working days - but you do need to provide the proof of posting "certificate". Obviously the seller has to do this as presumably they have kept this piece of paper obtained from the Post Office when the packet was sent.

Ive posted loads of stuff in the last couple of months first class and second class, the first class stuff was there the next day and the second class was within three days, he will get a receipt for posting whatever, so if he has posted it he should be able to go down and check himself why its not been delivered, as for 28 days first class delivery I dont think so!,
if its been taken to the post office they would have told him the correct price so theres no excuse there, if hes put it in the letter box (if it fitted that is) without enough postage on it will be returned to him! thats only if he put his name and address on it, if not thats the end of it, he needs to go down to the post office and get it sorted! as its him thats responsible for it not the buyer.

A very unpleasant one! He came to pick 2 of my Hermanni Tortoises up, very rude to deal with over emails. There were sexed both males, he got home and started sending emails like 'Thanks for the cheap price, the female alone is worth £300' when it's a male. Then going on to say 'Both of these tortoises will have found new homes and me making £600' when he knew they were my pets from being a child. I also asked if he could send me a couple of pics of them settling into their new homes and he was like 'I will tell the new owners to send you some' being very arrogant. He really is not a nice person at all. It was a genuine sale that I didn't have the time to care for them and I wanted them to have a good home and it's made me really upset that someone could even act like that just to make money! I only asked for a couple of photo's of my pets, it wasn't so much. This is the first time i've ever sold a pet of mine and it really has made me think twice about trusting people, I am such an animal lover and I didn't think people could be like this.
