Default Reptile Cymru Rescue

I thought I would put this piece here in case anyone is local or gets stuck around the South Wales area and doesn't realise that we can help. Please note this isn't an advert for free snakes, I'd rather have a quiet christmas Wasn't sure where else to put it really. On a side note, if you are a rescue anywhere in the UK or can rescue large animals such as burms/iguanas/niles please PM me your details so I can keep it on file. If you are local and interested in being contacted to rehome animals, please let me know too, although I usually post the rehomes up here and have had so far had fantastic responses and a lot of help from locals.

Reptile Cymru Rescue is offering a rescue and rehoming service to any reptiles who need it. We are not asking for free reptiles - we do not keep the reptiles handed in to us, we are a service that wishes we didn't need to exist, but understands sometimes people cannot keep their reptiles.
We will try and help you rehome any reptile, any size, any aggressiveness, and will accept sick or injured animals, getting them immediate vet treatment if you cannot afford it.

All of our reptiles are quarantined, either kept until rehabilitated and then rehomed, or are offered to experienced keepers for rehabilitation and rehoming (depends on the space we have)

With larger animals we are willing to work in conjunction with experienced keepers and reptile rescues all over the country - although we rarely have the facilities to keep large animals such as burmese pythons or adult iguanas for long, we hope that with our connections we can always find a home for such animals.

We do not "sell" any animals, we do sometimes ask a rehoming fee depending on the situation, usually no more than £20 - which covers the cost of a standard worming/deparasite treatment, and one initial vet check. We are supported financially by Reptile Cymru, a retail store. We do not accept or ask for donations at this time, but appreciate anyone who believes they can help with rehoming reptiles.

If you have a genuine need for a reptile who is too big, too sick, or that you simply do not have the time for and would rather be rehomed than simply sold, then please let us know.

We are located in Cardiff but will help anyone in the country if we can - even if it's just putting you in touch with someone local or offering advice.

Please do not "dump" animals at Reptile Cymru, we are not going to blame anyone - I am not going to ask in depth questions about why an animal is being rehomed or why it needs vet treatment - it is much better for the animal if we can meet the owner and just get basic facts such as age, feeding history and what enclosure they have come from, so please don't just leave an animal outside with no information - we are in the business of helping reptiles, not blaming owners.

So far I've been pretty lucky - although we did have kittens dumped in a box outside the shop on sunday night... a lot cuter than burms at least

They are good - we've named them Jack & Sparrow (2 little boys), they are tiny and we don't think old enough to be gone from the mother so they are having milk supplements. The cats protection are full - and also won't rehome them until 2 weeks after christmas, and they don't have enough staff really to be giving individual attention around this time of year so it looks like we might be fostering them until after christmas - then they'll definitely be old enough and strong enough to look for new homes.

thats great - I'm glad someone had the sense to leave them with you - even though it's not right to just dump them.

If there is anything I can do to help - just let me know
