Hiya, can you tell me what the hip scores were for the dam and sire please and also if there are any problems with epilepsy, monorchid/chryptorchid etc from either the Dam or Sires side.

My sister is interested in maybe buying an NI but with all the health problems cropping up in the breed you cant be too careful.

Thanks

See the number in the advert? If you phone it you can speak to the breeder and ask.

but as it is. Dams side is beyond healthy. in fact dams side is one of the healthiest lines of Northern Inuit. What with me actually being an expert on the breed unlike others who claim that they are and in fact no nothing about the breed of dog they have.

hi, is the care of an inuit any different to that of a husky or malamute? have owned both of these in the past and although im not currently in a position to buy a puppy it is something I may consider next year. I have looked into the utanongan (sp) but didnt really find much, but an inuit is another breed i would love to know more about

Well, in a very personal opinion of mine I would never own or take on a Utonagan. This is a very personal reason but hey, I know all their full true history but....

No, Northern Inuit Dogs are very much the same in the required care as Huskys and Mals with the exception that NI are known for the fact that they are better off lead.
Northern Inuit can be raised with all other animals and if socialised well from puppyhood with other animals they are great.
Well, even mine who hadn't really had much poultry exposure as pups are still good now.
We have what we call 'Death wish Chickens' as our meat birds regularly fly over into the dogs play area and have many times been wandering around with 3 Nothern Inuit, 1 Springer who is a working dog and a staff x collie and eaten out the same flippin bowls as them!
Keano become baby chick protector and spent most of the time we were hatching, laying in front of the brooder. Even caught him one morning trying to put a chick back as it had escaped and he was crying like mad because it wouldn't go back in (Baring in mind he is a mutant NI being neutered to young and now being 32inches at the shoulder! And it being a tiny bantam chick he could have inhaled lol)

They DO NOT like to be left alone for long periods of time. They are very family orinatated and all mine have a deep protection bond over my children. I do sometimes think they wouldn't bother to save me (well why would they, I'm pack leader after all lol) but they would certainly protect my children and have done many times in the past without ever having to show teeth as they are a very Intelligent breed. I used to take Logan (who happens to be these pups Great Grand dad) out with me all the time when Alex was in her buggy. If anyone came over to say hello to Alex and they went to touch her (as old people do! grrr) he would just stand over the front of her and just block their way without even looking at them #or even making any noise. He just didn't know them and he would rather he was inbetween. Then he'd give me dirty looks for not having told old lady to bog off lol He would also only walk at Heel to Alex in her Buggy as she wanted to hold his collar all the time.

OOOPs proper went on, but hey I've had the breed for a long time now.
Grandma of the pups is 9 years old in December. Her last vet visit a few months back. Vet couldn't believe how old she was cause he thought she was 4! So Health wise she is sound as. Logan, Great grandad, he is 8 in April and the only thing he had was a ruptured bladder in which he almost died but he was such a fighter he pulled through amazingly and the vet nurses fell in love with him as they had never met such an amzing dog. He had them in tears when he dragged himself across the floor with 2 drips in to lick a kitten who had been abandoned. (Logan cleaned bums on foster kittens we found, and he helped keep them warm by snuggling them in his basket).

Care to elaborate?? I am interested in the Utonagan and as stated, not much info available at the present time on them or the breed history, other than they are created by crossing Malamute, Husky and GSD.

PM me if it's a sensitive subject.

Thanks I didnt mean to sound picky but there is so much flack flying around at the moment about this breed that its hard to know who to believe. I already have an NI that is very inbred but luckily very healthy. There are 3 different pedigree's for the Dam of my boy and also 2 different dates of birth for her. She has the kennel affix of one of the founder breeders but wasnt bred by her. All rather confusing lol.

I've passed the number onto my sister, I missed it this morning by rushing as usual lol.
