what makes a baby rat be a very good pet? the reason i ask back when i was a boy, roughly aged 12 i got a baby rat, he was tame as ever, he used to sleep in my bed at night, no lie, sleep on my pillow, i used to take him everywhere, he died aged 5 years 2 months, i no this for sure. a few years ago i got back into rats got 2 males, they never really tamed down, i used to get them out every day, and really mess with them, wot a very big disapointment. would love some answers from the breeders of rats. the only thing i can put it down to is the first rat was kept on his own, so did he need more company? wanting to get some more rats but dont want rats that dont tame down.

i had 3 rats who slept with me in bed sassy, jd and milo.
they are nice pets i have 17 now.

where were your rats from cause the only rats i have which have not really settled is my rescue boy benji.
all my others from people on here or bred by me.
i ahve soppy babies thats all i dont let them go if anything is wrong with them which nothing is. all my rats are tame and i must admit right now not had them out much been busy but they are still lovely as anything.
nothing can beat the 3 rats i mentioned sassy, jd and milo they were the best.

what u had a rat live over 5, u must be a liar, lol sorry i only messin with u, i stated on another thread 1 of my rats lived til 5 n i was called a liar, and someone wont name names said that only rats that were starved lived til 4 n it was basically impossible for a rat 2 live 2 5 years old, suprisin how there will probably be alot of people that rats do live til 5 n are well looked after.

i only breed my nice natured rats so the babies r all really tame, rats r brill pets n i to used to let mine run around my room hope u find a nice ratti, when i go to pick mine out i always get the ones that just sit there n wait 2 be picked up n dont run away, they normally turn out really friendly.

oh n when they are young i find if i put them in a small tank they tame up quicker, as soon as they are really tame i put them into there big cages.

i had some rats live long jd would of been 3 christmas eve and milo was 3 then he died.

i have had a rat now for 3 years aswell.

i also had a rat live till around 5 since i was in year seven till just before i left school. all my other lived till 1 year past to 3 only had one rat til 5.

exactly what i do see which one comes to me and sits there not the hypo ones lol...same here too only my ezxtra nice rats get the privlidge sp? of having babies lol

Just make sure you get a kitten that has been handled from an early age.
I let my kittens 'sense' me from birth.
I start to handle properly from opening their eyes.

I have had it said my babies are the most laid back that people have ever seen.

Shhh.....don't tell everybody I feed them valium just prior to people coming to see them.......

im having to come ratnap some squishes then my bog squishy boys died not had one like them since devostating my boys still young spose they can go soppier. its only cause i hand reared jd he was so tame..milo was a opet shop bought up with jd bet his soppy effect worse off on milo lol
