Default Forever Home Only

My niece has a one year old rottweiler bitch for sale.
she has had an unexpected pregnancy and knows with the new baby on the way and a 3 year old she just isnt going to be able to cope with such a big dog. she has another dog but feels that the bitch has a better chance of settling into a new home because of her age and desirability.
This hasnt been an easy decision for her to make, and has given herself untill August to find her a new home as she doesnt want her to go to just anyone.
The rottweiler is 1 year old, unspayed and has her pedigree papers.
there are champions in her blood line (cant remember which ones) and she is looking for at least £200 for her. She paid much more.

She is house trained, well socialised with other dogs and children, nikki would prefer her to go to a home with children over 5, or into a home where children are at least aware that a big dog can knock them over albeit accidentally.
This dog has been loved, and its breaking Nikkis heart that she is having to part with her, Please no time wasters, because that will only make this situation worse.
will post pics tomorrow.
please be aware that this is a BIG dog. and the home that this dog goes to must be its forever home.
Nikki will consider her going to someone who needs a patrol dog, i.e. a security guard, but this dog isnt used to kennels and they would possibly do her harm.

Well you for start . As to backbone, I think I've had enough running battles on here of which you are al too aware. If the cap fits wear it. Maybe a nice SS one.

Happy New Year to all, May 2009 be a good year.

i may consider taking her in as a rehomer if agood home is more important than money. we already have 2 rescue rottys and are fully aware of the responsibilities and implications. we also have 5 kids that are used to the dogs so no worries there. Also, i would spay the dog straight away as rottys cant be given away these days. as soon as they hit 6months old they are as good as homeless. The bitch i already have has an amazing pedigree with many champions . she is from what is regarded as the best rotty breeder in the uk. we could have bred from her and made an absolute fortune but that would be VERY unethical given that so many rotts need homes already.

anybody that is prepared to pay £200 for a rotty that age will only be looking at her as a money machine. they probably wont keep her after 2 litters when she is no longer useful . i personally would get her spayed first so you know that she will be going to a home that GENUINLEY wants her as a pet. goodluck with it all

Can i just say that i agree having her spayed before rehoming would be a sensible decision. It will mean that she cannot get into the wrong hands and be exploied.

Her breeder should always be your first port of call if rehoming a dog, they may be devastated if you pass her on without their knowledge and may take her back to either keep, or rehome. They may also buy her back.

sadly the breeder isnt interested, has more pups and no space or time (if you believe that, i know i dont).
i agree the bitch should be spayed, but this isnt my dog so not my decision.

If a good home is more important try
ZEPTHEDEP ROTTWEILER RESCUE heard lots of good things about this rescue, if she has until august she could pass on the details and keep her until someone is found. I have two Rotties and love the breed. I agree she will do well to get £200, puppies are now as little as £150 in our local paper(although not pedigree or with health checks) and loads in rescues already.
Good Luck she sounds a great dog.

thanks i will definately pass on the info.
She has set herself so much time because she doesnt want her going to just anyone. I did tell her that £200 is a lot of money but i think she has set that price to put off any time wasters or losers.
As a plus she does have a full vacination history and vet checks and she also has the pedigree papers.
