Default license and species names

Hi

When you apply for a license, do you have to specify the exact species you are intending to keep? The reason I ask is because with new taxonomic revisions, the species on your license may infact be reclassifed as a new species. e.g. you may have had a license for Naja annulifera and kept the (then) subspecies N.annulifera anchietae, but now anchietae is a species in its own right and not a subspecies of annulifera.

I have no idea how the licensing procedure works, so do excuse me if im being pedantic!

all the snakes on my licence are named using common names, its not really that important that you use scientific names except for cage labels which will be needed if you are bitten and need to inform the hospital.
for instance i have a pair of Banded rock rattlers on my licence but the cage ID reads Banded rock rattlesnake
Crotalus Lepidus klauberi
local....Huachuca mountain

Here in Greece you need to always use the scientific names. Being born and raised in London, I always used the common names so it has taken me a good few years to learn the scientific ones. Hospitals here want Scientific and common names in Greek.
