Wanted: Tanks/Vivariums/Filters etc for educational use at Highland Wildlife Park

Hi all,

I'm currently a Volunteer at the Highland Wildlife Park, near Aviemore in Scotland and want to set up some tanks to house some local amphibian species in the education centre to help raise awareness for amphibian decline in the area.

I've been given the go ahead from head of education but we've just discovered all but one of the tanks that were in storage are damaged and the budget can't cover any new ones this year.

So can anyone help me out with any spare Tanks, Vivariums (glass preferably), and any filters/airpumps, gravel and any other equipment etc would also be greatly appreciated.

I've got a wee two foot fish tank with some gravel, plus loads of bits and bob's you can have if it's any use? It's in perfect working order, just needs a clean which I just haven't had time to do yet...lol

thanks, you are a little far away for someone to come collect it, but if you are ever heading up this way give us a call at the park and someone will let you in to drop it off...

i've had a few offers on freecycle but haven't actually received anything yet unfortunately, so i'm still looking for:

Tanks: Glass and Plastic - any size really as we need a variety for different species/tadpoles/quarantine etc. (plastic for holding live food in)

Vivariums: we are looking to add some tree frogs in the future so if there are any going spare now or in the future please keep us in mind.

Filters: again anything thats going spare really.

Decor: any spare gravel or off cuts of bog/driftwood, cork bark etc

i know its a lot to ask, but if there is anything sitting gathering dust or you want to give away to a good use, then the education department here at the park would be very grateful and they would make very important additions to the amphibian decline awareness project - and hopefully help make a difference to wild populations.

I love the Highland Wildlife Park but I've got no way of getting anything to you. I will find out if my mate is popping down for a wee visit anytime soon and see if she can deliver some bits to you.

I'll bet! I am still trying to find out when she is coming down next, although it may not be until the summer. I used to live not too far from you in Cullen and she's in Keith so not a million miles away eh?
