Question Thermostat IN Viv?

Hiya all, I was just wondering weather it would be okay to keep the Thermostat IN the actual Viv it's self as I it would be easier for my reptile room as its going to be quite narrow... Would it cause any issues? Cheers

Quite a interesting and creative idea

I can't see a problem to be honest if it helps with space .. It will get krapped on of course but that's not the ed of the world . I'd you could stick it up off the ground using a glue gun - it could be camouflaged with fake foliage ..

I don't really see a problem unless it has a control 'knob' that could be turned around by the snake ...
There'd be no issue if it's got a tiny slot to adjust the temp

I can probably make some sort of Box for it, It's for Dwarf Retics anyway so I doubt they'd turn it.

I've got a Super Dwarf and it's got a powerful grip ...
I'd knock up a simple cover or box or something to be safe ..

Hi, I think it would be ok so long as it's not a humid environment. Electronics do not like moisture! You could take the knob off, it should just pull, and put a small container of rock salt or silica gel in the box and it should take care of some moisture

In the old days we use to use house hold thermostats wired to a heater and they worked fine.

I would avoid putting salt in, as this will become corrosive with moisture

If it were me. I would just work out the length of probe needed to mount the controller wherever you want. And then order it from the manufacturer, they all do custom lengths as far as know.

You could maybe use cages you get for heat lamps
