Default Fairly priced dimmer stats?

Does anyone know of any dimmer stats apart from the stupidly overpriced Habistat ones? Why has everything that is branded for 'reptiles' got to be so overpriced??

There must be some dimmer stats out there branded for something else other than exotics that will do the same job. If anyone finds anything i'd greatly appreciated it!

If you have nothing to compare to, then how can it be overpriced? You pay for it because its a necessity, wouldnt matter if it was 10 quid more, I'd still buy them...

Everything with 'reptile' on the lable is overpriced imo. Eg, you'll be paying like £3.99 for a 1kg bag of 'reptibark'.. go to B&Q, and you can get a 25kg! bag of the same stuff for a fiver.

You pay £20 for a crappy little piece of driftwood in a petshop... A local furniture shop near me was selling loads of driftwood for £1 a piece.

You pay 4.99 for a 'eurorep' standard spotlight, again you can pick up 5 for 2.00 from B&Q or homebase... i could go on and on but i'm not gonna as this has no relevance to my question

Still the point the first person remains that if you have nothing to compare them too then they cannot be overpriced. KNowing a little bit about electrical good I can say that the demand and technology involved would indicate that they are priced ok.

Grab a cheap one off of Ebay if need be.

You can get Microclimate Dimmers from Camzoo for £34 delivered for light emitting heaters and £31 for non light emitting heaters.

Damn good service from Camzoo too, in my experience anyway.

£34 sounds more reasonable. Obviously its still an essentail so i'll carry on buying them, £50 just sounds slightly unreasonable to me.

The microclimate ones as the poster above mentioned have a more appealing pricetag. I'm starting to sound like a right miserable old git now.

It still surprises me that people invest in the well being of animals and then skimp on the single most important piece of equipment- namely the themostat.
Quality and reliability is absolutely paramount.
Dimmers are very sophisticated instruments and are not cheap to manufacture.
Similar controllers sell in scientific equipment supplies for several hundred pounds.
Habistats are made in the UK and have a 5 Year guarantee. When returned they are usually despatched repaired the same day they are received. Customer service is second to none.
The Dimmer is one of the best selling units and has been for 20 years.
Please understand that you do get what you pay for.
If you want to ensure that your animal is kept properly and protected to the best of your ability, do not skimp on the most important piece of equipment.
Buy good quality equipment- even if it costs a little more!
