Viv builders - Would this work?

Right, I am soon to be getting a new solid oak kitchen with granite tops etc. The kitchen joins on to a large dining room which has antique pine furniture.

The thing is I want my vivs to fit in with the rest of the furniture and soam trying to make it look really good.

I have read that you cant just make a viv out of wood as it may warp etc and so what I thought was I could have a glass viv then encase it in solid wood. That would work wouldnt it?


...Or is there any wood which is tolerant of the temps/humidity? If not, any other ideas?

you can make a viv out of wood, the warping occurs when you're using the wrong wood / untreated in a high humidity environment.
If you wanted to stay inline with the rest of the decor you could use pine but give it a few coats (internally) with something like yacht varnish. Anything from the pine family needs to be coated as the sap / fumes / something is toxic to reptiles.
