Default Could I do this?

I have a 3ft by 1ft by 1ft tank. Could I buy a piece of glass and then divide it into two smaller 1.5ft long sections? The thing is I want to keep a spider in one side and a couple of emperor scorpions in the other, but unlike with my GALS that live in a glass tank I'm not happy about using heat mats since they never create a high temp, even when I have one on the side and one underneath. And by putting it underneath it also dries out the substrate. So I was thinking maybe a tube heater...?Only thing is, I'm not going to buy two little ones for each side...so would having a notch cut in the dividing piece of glass work? Or is there a better heating method you can think of?

Why's that? Won't it warp and everything? I thought from what everyone says that glass is easy and cheap to get cut.

with glass they could see the other area, so they could run into the glass trying to get to the other side, and also they might be scared of the other animals in the other side...

I have a split tank with a breeding pair of T's, one in each side, and theres nbever been any problems like that so I should think that would be ok, making sure theres no gaps at the top is more important, they would probably be more inclined to be hungry than scared

How did you manage to heat both sides so they have a hot bit and a cool bit?

I'm thinking the tube heater would work but might be expensive and fiddly.

I have a heat strip on the back which covers both parts, the gradient goes more from corner to corner then, but they dont mind and have been getting on great, I think they love each other, they sit and look at each other (probably thinking... mmm yum yum ) But I'll need to get him whisked back to his owner pretty soon
