Default Thermostat question

This should be a nice quck thread. Right, so I'll start with the easy one: mat stats= for heat mats. (I know that ones right!) So what are dimmers and pulses for? I thought dimmers were good for lights, pulses good for ceramics and mats. Is this correct?

Dimmers can be used with any heat source, but some dimmers have a minimum load (generally 40 watts) which makes it difficult to use them with many heat mats. They are the only appropriate thermostat for visible lights.

Pulse stats are good for ceramics and mats.

A mat stat can be used with a lower-wattage ceramic in a pinch, but they generally have fairly low maximum loads.
