Default ceramic heating for a 4x2x2

I've just bought a 4x2x2 viv which will be for breeding my coastals in.

I would use an AHS but I need night day function on the stat for cooling. I have a pulse stat on the way.

Just wondering what size ceramics to go for, will a 250W be enough?

I have a Viv-tek 4x2x2 for my 5foot chunky royal & im using a 150w ceramic heater with habitat dimmer stat which has the "night mode" option & this is plenty of heat.

250watt maybe a little too much & could cause the stat to be on minimum power all the time in the case of a dimmer or pulse will be going on & off constantly as temps will rise very quickly.

Also, if using a 250w ensure you have the correct guard, most guards i see in shops are only suitable for 150w so please keep this in mind.

I hope this helps

Yeah I would say thet a 250 watt would be 'over kill' unless you are using a dimmer stat.

even with a dimmer it may still be too much as a too powerful heat source will mean the dimmer is constantly on minimum power & this will mean the temps may not be accurate.

/me reads the dimmerstat manual :P

Cheers.
