Default best stats?

Right, Im writing my xmas list, and instead of people buying me crap, which Id just go out and buy myself, if i actually wanted it, Im gonna get them to get me equipment for my ever growin python collection.

Im after opinions on brands, as ive had mats from somebrands that after a few weeks struggle to defrost a pinky, and Ive had stats that break, and either stop power goin to the heater, or jam on and get bloody hot!

Im gonna get people to get me as many stats as i can accumulate this festive year, and Id like some help in asking my family and friends, what ones to get me (as they wouldnt know where to start)

so, any opinions and experiences with brands and models will be appreciated

I have a mixture of habistat and microclimate. Pulse proportional 'cos They are accurate and can be used with most heat sources except lights, and I don't use lights. and one cobra matstat that I only use if I have nothing else. So far none have failed.

I recently bought a 0.1.0 CRB and a fish tank that i modified into a viv. I purchased a Lucky Reptile Thermo Control Pro 2 and i would recommend them to anyone. I know i have only been using it for a few days but the technology in it is inceredible. You can set up 2 different timers i.e lighting heatmat/ceramic bulb. You can set day and night time temps, what time the day temp starts and what time the night temp starts. It also has an alarm feature (handy if you use ceramic heater and they hvae blown and you do not know) which you can set perameters i.e a 1 degree drop in temp or 1 degree to high the alarm will sound. It is a wonderful bit of kit and can be found on ebay for £40 so they are also reasonably priced.

Good luck with the decision that you make!

Could the Thermo Control pro 2 be used to run a beardie's viv? (UV and spotlight bulb)

Good question to ask too, nice to see what other people use/recommend

microclimates as there smaller than habistats plus you can get the day/nite feature without the need of a separate box.
but i do have both habi an micro
habi's are dimmers and the micros are pulse with magic eye

i had that for my beardie - awesome, no faffin, no chance of forgetting to turn ur dimmer up or down. although i didnt use it for my UV tube, i combined a heat mat and ceramic, and whacked my uv tube on a timer.....sorted
