Default When does a heatmat stop working?

I just wanted to know. Because, I have had my heatmat plugged in for over a year now to heat my carolina corn snakes vivarium. Do they last any longer than a year? Thanks...

I've been using the same heat mat for my leopard gecko tank for the last 6 years.
Hopefully now I've said that it won't die just to spite me.

Burnt or melted spots on the heat mat are also an indication it's "broke".
