Hi
I had one of those dial ones and couldn't for the life in me work it out. I bought a digital one from Wilko's for a fiver and after a week of having it plugged in, it finally kicked in last night - hurrah The instructions are pretty simple too |

I bought all mine from Homebase, dial ones and digitals, none of the dials click. The digital ones are not usually recommended for flourescent lights, including UV tubes, but I've never had a problem using them.
