Default Temp set up for boa

Ok i got my viv set up 4x2x2 ,got a red IR heat bulb 75w with gaurd on ,a habistat dimming thermostat the temp under the light is about 40degrees
and the temp in the viv varies at about 26 degrees, the habistsat probe is about in the middle half way down the back panel set at 32 degrees never switchs off though dont think it is reaching the temp, should i try a larger bulb or is this set up hot enough for a common boa , havent bought it yet..

Interesting problem. I had similar problems. I think perhaps you would be better off getting a ceramic heater.

I have a red lamp too in a similar sized viv, i have the dimming thermo probe bout mid way down the back wall in the middle of the viv. The thermostat is set at 88F, and I get temps of 34deg in the hot spot going down to 28deg at the far end. At night the viv drops to about 26deg which is borderline too cold.

Hope this helps! How big is the boa you are going to get?

60W, possibly need 75W not sure. I originally had a red spot light from Wilkos but it gave off normal white light throught the top which disturbed the snake
