Default HABISTAT-setting(please help)

hi.

Just wondering i am putting my thermostate in and i was going to place the sensor near his basking spot to regulate this temp, but the dial only goes up to 32 degrees? so this isnt posible, should i take a ground reading in the hot end? it is a pulse stat i have.

thanks

I have my probe at the cold end...but most people put them halfways i believe?

There is no need to put it directly under the light as it would be an incorrect reading...halfway or the opposite end is best.

I put my probe near the basking spot, with a thermometre under the basking spot. It was a case of hit and miss until the thermostat setting kept the basking spot at the right temp

It doesn't actually matter where you put the sensor, as long as you use a thermometer to set the actual ideal temps in the right area

I put mine central personally, but others put them at the hot ends or the cool, just dont rely on the dial markings as anywhere near accurate, cause they aint

Why do you use a ceramic? Do you use it during the day? Because Beardies need bright white light, as well as the light UVB tubes put out. It is much better to use a basking bulb for a BD, because they associate it with heat.

its really easy, put your sensor wherever you need to, say the centre of the viv, put a thermometer at the hot end, turn the dial to full, and when you get to the right temperature, turn the dial back till it goes just off

Once done just move the thermometer around the viv at the cool end etc and check youve got good gradients, then i personally put a thermometer permanently at both the warm and cool end

ah i didn't know what it was for, i used a ceramic with my beardies along with two spot bulbs(i had 3females and a male), the ceramics were set at the nightime temp, the spots brought the daytime temps up spot on
