Default Water filter for spray system?

Hi, I've been having a lot of trouble with clogging of my spray nozzles for my reps. They would last about a week before I have to descale them and after that they are never as efficient. I was wondering if anyone has the same problem and what they did to overcome this? Would an in-line water filter be effective, like the ones they use for the sinks?

Thanks in advance

Luke

i use an in ine filter from dartfrog for my misting system water..its great..you will need one and it fits into a 4ml tubing just fine..awesome..and only a few quid. stopped the problem your having, also try using a wtr filter jug form your water in your resivour. hope that helps.

An inline filter like this one: Pollywog before the pump will prevent any debris blocking the nozzles but won't do much for limescale, if you're having a problem with limescale then you really need to change the type of water you're using. Also if you're using a system with clear pipework and it's running near lights then you'll get algae forming in the pipes which can restrict the pipe and clogg the nozzles so would be worth changing to black nylon tubeing: Pollywog
When it comes to unblocking nozzles use vinegar or lemon juice, if you stick pins into misting nozzles you'll likely damage the nozzle especially with the non-drip type.

Thanks for the replies. I usually clean the nozzles using scale-away but the nozzles last about a day before clogging again. The piping is from dartfrog, so they are black therefore no chance of algae clogging it, its limescale which is the problem. I may have found a solution:

Firstly I put a hole in a bucket and attacked tubing to it. This tubing ran into an in-line water filter (and with the pollywog inline filter for the debris) and into the container for the pump. This should, hopefully, slow the limescaling process. Basically, I fill the bucket with water and it runs through the inline water filter (this one Water Gem In-Line Filter TWIN Pack on eBay (end time 02-Nov-10 12:53:46 GMT)) and into the pump. I'll try and post a pic later.

Thanks again
Luke

Preferable but not an option lol I use my spray system for 6 nozzles, spraying 3 times a day for a couple of minutes, a lot of evian bottles would be needed

I deliver bottled wate,r so happen to know that bottled water does have a mineral content, even when not high enough to be legally marketed as mineral water, so would in fact be worse that tap water
