I don't understand what you're trying to do, why do you need to dismantle the stat? The only part of the stat that goes inside the viv is the probe, and you just need to drill a small clearance hole for that, everything else stays outside the viv and you thread the wire from the lamp out through another hole.

Thumbs up Take care!

Graham is right. The easiest way is to drill a hole for the probe to inside the viv.

It wouldn't be a good idea to take the stat apart. You would probably need a soldering iron anyway.

The stats normally have 3 connection -

1. The probe - goes inside the viv and monitors the temp.
2. Mains suppy - normally a 3 pin mains plug - goes into the mains
3. Heater supply - This is the 'output' of the stat normally wired to a 'flying' mains SOCKET. The heater plugs in here.

If you are stuck you can give me a call on 07779 800 406. I will help you.

Regards

Nigel

Basically what the last person said, the only thing you would need to dismantle is the plug on your bulb to thread it through a hole. Dan

Nigel is right, all the wires going into the stat end in soldered joints, sometimes encased in silicone, so you really can't just start taking it apart, and if you don't understand how it works that would be extremely foolish anyway. At the very least it would instantly invalidate any warranty on the equipment!

unless you put the stat in there and just cut the plug off it, stick that through the hole and put the plug back on

get a 4 way circular white junction box from wilkinsons for about 80pence,

1,fix uv starter to viv

2, fix junction box next to or near starter

3,and then cut both wires so theres enough to reach junction box

4,have the strip light ends in the viv and thread through hole into junction box

5,then have the 2 colours from each cut rejoin in the junction box.

The white circular box in the top right of vivs is the junction box

Hope that helps, dan
