Question Water filters for vivariums

Ok guys so I am going to take the plunge of making my own home made waterfall.

I see it that if im going to do it i want to do it right and have been researching as much as i can to make my custom waterfall.

The only problem I have is what compact water filter to use??

I want to get a reliable, very quiet, compact filter that will be able to take being submerged into around a maximum of 4 inches of water.

Any help would be really appreciated as this is the only thing holding me back.

Also ideas would be appreciated for my custom waterfall.

Thanks in advance.
