Default hi

along time ago when i first got into breeding marmosets i had 3 i hand reared one and bought 2 more 2 keep him company
i also had a strong bond with my first one i could take him outside and he would just stay on me never bit me once in his whole life !
but i look at your pics with yours and your doing very risky things with your marmies they should never ever be drinking or putting there mouth near a cup plate forck spoon that has been in contact with a humans mouth as they can get very i,ll if they where to catch the herpes virus which is the common cold sore 95% of people carry it in siliva or there blood and never have a cold sore but if marmies get it its almost impossible to cure and they suffer horribly most do not recover ! trust me i have been through it once but never again llost a whole troop through the same mistakes you are making these animals must be kept like you are a keeper and not a housen pet

thanks for your concern, but trust me i know all about potential risks to my marms. compared to a lot of them the chances of him catching something from me is nothing compared to catching something from a stranger. the majority of marms, hand reared or otherwise have outdoor cages, even you said you took yours outside, and thats where they are vunerable to the biggest killer - disease from rodents/birds. i do my best to keep him as safe as possible without keeping him a bubble. plus you try drinking with him about! all juice tastes like monkey to me!

How many hours a day do you put into caring for them just out of interest? do they constantly need attention? or are they fine in the cage wnd when you get home from work they are out the rest of the time? Also how much do they cost, ive seen males for about £1000 on here so im wondering whats the average price?

they do need consent attention, but thats why you need at least 2. mine have the run of a whole room all the time, they just sleep in the cage by choice. they have an outdoors thing too when the weathers nice. i come home from work and get high speed monkey cuddles on the face! i wouldnt think of it in terms hours of caring, aside from feeding and cleaning, i spend as much time with them as possible because i enjoy it.
as for cost, it varies quite a bit. i sell mine for about £750 each, but only to homes i decide are good enough, and they must have monkey company!
