Default Hedgehog nail clipping.

As susan is on vet bed, her nails got a little long, so with my special claw clippers (the ones with the notches in the blades, which are awesome by the way ) i was all set, but how to do it, normally she wont let me get to her feet, so how could i reach and do it accurately and safely (i.e. avoiding the quick) . simple hold the headgehog in the palm of your hand with the feet dangling through your fingers, hold above a bed, so no damage can be caused be them falling and get clipping!

I've only had my hedgehog since Friday but he sat very patiently last night and let me do all his nails. Don't think he'd ever had it done but he was so well behaved

yeah they are quite good at getting pooy feet arent they lol!!! takes ages to wash off though - me and hubby look well silly bathing this tiny hedgie in the bath when we trimmed his nails as he is none too impressed and hubby holds him just in the water whilst I hold one foot and clip whilst the other 3 are still going like the clappers - heheheheheheh - thankfully they dont seem to grow that fast - he had a swim last night in some aveeno bath oil as his belly fur was getting a little yellowy!!! Does your like the bath??

Hedgies should be aloud to swim at least once a week, not only does this give them a great work out, it cleans the feet and in between the toes (you cannot forget this bacterial hotspot) with out the need for intervention.

Clipping in the bath is simple, as hedgehogs have very flexable hips you can just hold the back leg distended in one hand and simply cut to just above the quik. Some hedgies never need there nails clipped and others need it weekly. Some hedgies nails can grow like wildfire.

Using a Wodent wheel with filing paper for a couple of days can do the job but it can at the start upset their little pads, they can be fine but it can be stressful to the foot pads. Just making anoher option known.
