Default APH gave birth on sunday night

as above , my fat little APH girly gave birth on sunday night, tonight is the first night she has left the nest ( very attentive mum) and she is sat there in the spot where her wheel normally is. what should i do!? do i put it back in for a supervised run or should i leave it?

i wasnt expecting babies, i *think* thats she got knocked up when i was away for the weekend and asked my OH and kids to clean the hogs out. thats the only time they could have gotten together. the picture i have of them was photo shopped so i know i havent given them the chance to get jiggy. just goes to show the hubby and kids cant tell the difference between a brown and a chocolate.

how long have you had these hogs al?

cos the gestation period is usually anywhere between 36-50 days.... i didnt think youdhad them that long? maybe got pregnant at previous owners house?

how many babies she had? just leave her totally alone, dont bother her at all, the more you disturb n mess the more likely she is to turn on the babies

i dont know. i am going through 7 types of hell at the moment so i cant figure out dates. my head wont work! but it could be that they came here pregnant. i remember seeing a thread that they were exposed to a male by their previous owner but that was in late january.

anyway, the mum has been out tonight, she has eaten some food and had a drink. there is 3 or 4 babies in the nest and its been a few days so fingers crossed.

Congratulations Al I dont think I will ever have babies as I put my 2 together for 3 hours but then seperated them as she had Elvis by the ear and wouldnt let go then she proceeded to try and beat him up constantly so I split them.Naughty bully girl and poor little Elvis. Yes Evie is definately female and Elvis male.I didnt know females could turn so nasty

We left the wheel in with ours, I think she appreciated the time away from the babies!

well i had taken the wheel out but last night i found the mum climbing up the metal wire of her cage and trying to get out of her house. she was going bonkers so i got her out for a run and she had ten minutes on her wheel. then she went back to her babies quite happily. i thinki saw 3-4 babies when i had a peek while she was out and i have no idea about colours......they looked like pink marshmallows covered in coconut!

i am sure she must have gotten pregnant here, i reckon its a mix up on my kids part when they have had them out. the two females are identical and i can tel the male apart really easily.......my hubby kids ae not as observant!

its definately recommended to leave the wheel out at the min - too much risk with such young babies in with her!! and as above leave babies alone for a bit!! They will be far too young to tell colours yet anyway
