Hi,

Wonderful news!

Acacia Rats are really stunning little beasties - I love them.

I have four - 2 adults, 2 pups and am picking up another pair next week.

I hope that all goes well for the little pup.

Heather.

Thankyou Heather,
I had my 6 on the 21st February, so I consider myself lucky to have babies already - they must be content......

Never heard of them before. I'm sat here with two babies ratties running round my neck so thought I would look them up.

OOOHHH they're a tad cute aren't they

Are they as tamable as normal ratties?
Got any photos I love the eye marking.

I don't know if they are tameable, I can't say that I've tried yet....
I've only had the main group for a month, and I am managing to stroke them without them running off, but boy can't they jump. They are in a highish tank with a mesh lid and they jump from the bottom of the tank to the lid, then run round the lid - absolutely brill to watch!!!
Haven't got any photos as yet, but will try to take some later as they are sooo fast....

Hi,

Yes - they are tameable - all four of mine are very tame now.

Some strains of these beasties have been found to be nippy, but this may be due to two very similar sub-species being bought into the coutry - one is more fiesty than the other! Have a look at the Acacia Mania website - it's full of fantastic information on these guys!

I think that these rays make amazing pets - they are intelligent, active and so fantastic to watch, interactive, and very attractive little animals.

Heather.
